What is The SatAnic Grotto?

  • NAZI SATANIST FUCK OFF!

We are feminist, LGBTQ allies, anti-fascist, and anti-racist. The Satanic Grotto is not affiliated with, or endorsed, or supported by any other satanic organization. We are an independent and non-denominational Satanic church that utilizes philosophies from many walks of the Left-Hand Path.

  • The Satanic Grotto is an organization of Satanists and Left Hand Path practitioners. We dedicated to the pursuit of absolute personal sovereignty through the strategic dismantlement of oppressive dogma. We achieve this by empowering our members with decentralized community, defiant religious expression, radical education, and direct adversarial action.

    • Providing a safe community of mutual support for our members and allies.

    • Supporting the religious and personal development of our members.

    • Creating and promoting Satanic art, music, and literature within our community.

    • Engaging in local social and political activism.

  • The Satanic Grotto is not merely a philosophical concept. It is a legally recognized entity, formally established as a non-profit corporation incorporated in the state of Kansas. We operate under the federal tax-exempt status of a 501(c)(4) organization. This specific designation was chosen with calculated intent. Unlike religious organizations focused solely on worship, a 501(c)(4) structure grants us the crucial flexibility to engage in robust advocacy and direct action for what we define as social welfare: the vigorous defense of bodily autonomy, the promotion of radical free inquiry, and the active dismantling of oppressive, dogmatic systems within society. This legal framework serves as both our shield, protecting the Grotto and its members as we operate in the world, and our spear, empowering us to challenge the forces of tyranny and ignorance in the public square.

The Satanic Grotto is registered as The Grotto Society with the state of Kansas under certificate ID 1230086.

Grotto Chapters

  • A Grotto Chapter is the local, living heart of The Grotto Society—the forge where the raw adamant of our philosophy is hammered into a tangible reality. While the The Grotto Society provides the overarching framework and network, a chapter is an autonomous, self-governing body of practitioners who meet regularly to engage in ritual, pursue magical and intellectual studies, and provide direct, mutual support in the Great Work. It is the primary environment where the solitary path of the adept intersects with the power of a dedicated cabal, transforming abstract theory into shared, lived experience.

Within the crucible of a Grotto, members collaborate on celebrating the High Sabbaths, conduct group-oriented magical workings, and hold discussions to deepen their understanding of the Adversarial Path. Chapters serve as invaluable spaces for learning practical skills, vetting personal insights among trusted peers, and developing the discipline required for serious esoteric practice. Each Grotto organizes itself according to the principles of merit and function, led not by dogmatic priests, but by facilitators best suited to guide the group's work and maintain the integrity of the sacred space. The Chapter is, therefore, the essential proving ground where your will is sharpened, your knowledge is tested, and your journey is amplified by the presence of your fellow travelers in darkness and light.

New chapters of The Grotto Society are established through a formal chartering process overseen by the Grotto Society Council. The Society provides a standard Chapter Bylaw template that is adaptable to suit local needs, ensuring autonomy while maintaining alignment with the organizational mission.

  • The Satanic Grotto’s roots are firmly planted in Kansas City, where the original chapter was established. The organization's work is a direct manifestation of its mission to improve the community through fellowship, art, religious expression, and activism. This dual focus translates into a wide range of activities that build internal bonds and project external power. Internally, the group fosters a strong sense of community through regular gatherings like open mic nights, craft and project nights, coven meetings, and camping trips, creating a network of mutual support and shared purpose.

These activities are anchored by a calendar of deeply held religious observances, most notably the High Sabbath rituals that mark the turning points of the year. Beyond their internal work, The Satanic Grotto engages in direct, confrontational activism. This includes a documented history of counter protesting anti abortion rallies and defending Planned Parenthood clinics. Their fight for religious freedom and free speech has been most visible at the Kansas Capitol in Topeka. Complementing this adversarial work is a commitment to community service, demonstrated through actions like Kansas City park cleanup days, volunteering at the Harvesters food bank, and organizing clothing and toiletry donations for KVC.

  • Wichita is the first external chartered chapter of the Grotto. Rooted in Sedgwick county, Wichita is Kansas's largest metropolitan area, this represents a significant strategic expansion of our organization. Though not as tenured as the original Kansas City chapter, the groundwork for Wichita was being laid as early as winter of 2019, evolving from a loose formation of individual members. Their official charter was formalized and recognized body within the organization's structure in April of 2024.

The members of the Wichita chapter are known to be loyal and fierce adversaries and its organizers are actively building the foundations of a permanent community. Wichita is now poised to become a powerful new front in the struggle for religious freedom and individual sovereignty in Kansas. Great things are expected to come from this burgeoning force.

  • In addition to its chartered chapters, The Satanic Grotto maintains a strategic presence with active members in the key political and cultural hubs of Lawrence and Topeka. The group's sustained engagement in Topeka is extensively documented, with members consistently confronting the state legislature and religious lobbyists at the Capitol building. These individuals and informal groups are supported by the foundational Kansas City chapter, which acts as a logistical and support base for operations throughout the region, embodying the Grotto's principle of mutual aid. This network ensures a cohesive and expanding operational footprint across eastern Kansas, allowing for rapid mobilization and a persistent, adversarial presence in the state's most critical arenas
